How easy is it to install window decals?

Installing your own window decals is relatively easy and can be done by one person. You will need a few tools (i.e. window cleaner and a cloth; masking tape; ruler or a level and a squeegee.) We offer an instructional video on our website that shows you the step-by-step process for installing vinyl lettering/decals. But you can always call us, during our operating hour, with any questions or concerns you may have about installing your newly purchased window decals.

Will my window decal require lamination?

Lamination is always recommended to preserve the print from outside elements (sun, rain, cleaning, physical contact etc.). Lamination also serves as an added protective barrier, from any scratching that may occur, when the window surface is being cleaned. If you do choose to laminate your window decal, we offer two different types of lamination... Matte & Glossy. Matte lamination will give a more "satin" finish that reduces glare; while Glossy lamination gives a more "shiny" appearance for a more glistening sheen.

How do you cut window decals to shape?

Our state-of-the-art digital printers are equipped with a tiny blade that can contour cut on our printed vinyl products. Contour cutting, also known as a custom cut or die-cut, is achieved by supplying a "vector" file (.AI, .EPS, .PDF, .CDR) that has specific outlines that the blade can follow to cut around. If you are unsure if your art file is "vector" based or if you need help creating a vector based file for a custom window decal, give us a quick call, and we'll help you verify if your artwork is a usable vector file.

Which vinyl choice is best for window decals?

We currently offer two types of Vinyl for our window decals... Standard and Premium. Standard vinyl is commonly recommended for most typical window applications (i.e. office windows, restaurant windows, house windows, etc.). Premium vinyl is usually only recommended for use on vehicle windows. But essentially, either vinyl choice can be used for window decals.

What is the longevity of Standard and Premium vinyl?

Both our Standard and Premium vinyls will last anywhere from 2 to 5 years, possibly more, without lamination. When you add in the protective nature of a laminate, the longevity of the vinyl for increases to anywhere from 3 to 7 years or longer. But ultimately, whether you choose standard or premium vinyl, the life expectancy of your digital window decal depends on the amount of sun and chemical exposure it will endure.

How do I know what size to make my window lettering?

To even begin pricing out window lettering, you will first need to measure the available window space. Next you will need to know what information you will be showcasing in that space. As a rule of thumb, every inch in lettering height can be seen from approximately 30 feet. Keep in mind that most lettering is almost as wide as it is tall. So a 5" capital letter will be nearly 5" wide including letter spacing (depending on type style and condensing) If in doubt, give our design team a call at (714) 573-9313, to help you figure out proper window letter sizing and pricing.

What vinyl colors show up best on windows?

Windows can be kinda tricky because you would think that any color would look good on a window, right? Wrong. Most all windows come with some sort of tint on them, so darker colors don't show up as well. White is usually the best choice in most cases. But if you want to switch up the color at bit, try sticking with lighter colors. Dark colors like Black, Dark Blue, Red or Forest Green don't show up as well on windows and are not recommended unless outlined with a light color.

Does each letter come separately?

No. Not unless you want them that way. Usually cut vinyl window lettering will come as a line of text at a time or the entire piece can be assembled for one easy application. It all depends on the size of window lettering that you are ordering. If you are covering a large area it might be better to break up the lettering into sections for easier application. All our vinyl lettering comes pre-spaced and ready to apply.

I've never installed window lettering. How do I do it?

Installing most window lettering, whether you're a novice or a pro, is pretty simple and straight forward and usually only takes a few minutes of your time. We offer a short instructional vinyl lettering application video on our website to help you with the installation process. What if I need a custom color that is not a standard vinyl color?

Typically, we cut window lettering from our stock of standard vinyl colors (i.e. White, Blue, Green, Black, etc.) But in the case that you have a more personalized color that you would like your window lettering to be done in, we can digitally print your lettering, which will be as close a match to your particular color as we can possibly get. Once your lettering is digitally printed, it can then be computer cut to the shape of the lettering and prepared for application just like our standard vinyl color choices.
Please note: All cut vinyl lettering requires vector-based artwork to be able to cut out to shape.

What is the best vinyl choice for window lettering? Standard or Premium?

When it comes to vinyl window lettering, we typically recommend our standard vinyl. Standard vinyl will last at least 5 - 7 years, and possibly more. However, depending on your window lettering needs, we can also use our premium vinyl which is predominantly used for vehicle lettering.

Reflective Vinyl
