How do I calculate vinyl letter pricing?

Vinyl lettering is priced by size, quantities and material.

Vinyl lettering is a great alternative to painting and serves as a permanent, yet temporary, sign option. And unlike painting that needs to be replaced by paint, vinyl lettering can be removed easily, revealing the original underlying surface. Cheap and easy to install, vinyl lettering, can be used for a multitude of lettering projects and can easily be priced online (or via phone) when you know a few key components to help you price your vinyl lettering. Please read on for simple tips to help you understand vinyl lettering pricing and obtain pricing while doing your online shopping research.

1) VINYL LETTER SIZE(S)

First and foremost, vinyl lettering is priced by the size, or height, of the lettering. Without a size for the vinyl lettering, it's hard to determine just how much your vinyl letters will cost. Most people have an idea of the size of vinyl lettering they desire, but sometimes that desired size, may not actually fit their available space. It's always best to measure your available space to help you determine what size will actually fit the area. And as a rule, most all lettering is as wide as it is tall, so keep that a 1" letter will roughly measure 0.85 inches wide; a 2" letter will be about 1.7 inches wide; a 5" letter measures 4.25 inches wide...so on and so forth. (Note: To figure out the width of a letter, multiply the height times 0.85).

2) VINYL LETTER MATERIAL

We carry a variety of vinyl letter materials to suit all lettering needs from our standard vinyl to specialty vinyls like etched glass vinyl, reflective vinyl and more. Deciding which type of vinyl material is right for your project depends on how it will be used; what environmental conditions it will need to weather; how long the vinyl needs to last; and what kind of surface the vinyl lettering will be placed on.

  • Standard Vinyl (Intermediate): Lasts about 3 to 5 years and works best on smooth, non-porous surfaces. Standard vinyl is great for all basic vinyl lettering projects and is especially popular for window lettering.

  • Premium Vinyl (High Performance): Typically lasts from 5 to 7 years and is geared towards surfaces with a texture (ex: wall lettering); or that will endure harsh weather conditions, repeated cleanings or has any sort of contour (ex: vehicle lettering).

3) VINYL LETTER CHARACTERS (QUANTITY)

Once you have figured out the size of lettering you'll need, whether it's just one size or a combination of sizes, and the vinyl material that best suits your project...you'll need to count up the characters for a total letter count. Then all you need to do is take a look at our vinyl letter pricing chart and multiply the number of characters times the amount of the lettering price associated with the vinyl letter size you need. And for large vinyl lettering orders that exceed $ 200 dollars, give us a call, for possible discounted pricing.
