Benefits of Rounded Corners on Magnetic Signs
Rounded corners on magnetic signs can extend the life of the product.
When magnetic signs are produced the corners are actually square. This is because the sign material is measured and cut to specific sizes. Magnetic signs with square corners work perfectly fine on any vehicle and in all actuality can last just as long as magnetic signs that have rounded corners. So you are probably wondering what is all the rave about magnetic signs with rounded corners?
First off rounding the corners of your magnetic signs makes them look more pleasing aesthetically. The 90 degree angled corners of a square cut magnetic sign look a little more harsh than a slightly rounded corner. With a rounded corner your magnetic sign has a softer look therefore making it more visually pleasing. But besides looking good the real key advantage of having rounded corners on a magnetic sign is the potential to extend the life of the sign.
We have been in business for over 25 years and have found that square cut corners tend to dog-ear over time. This is especially true for magnetic signs that are continually being put on and taken off a vehicle. Most people grab the corners of the sign to remove it and after repeated removals will notice that the square cut edges don't completely lay flat on the vehicle. And when a magnetic sign doesn't lay flat on a vehicle, air can get underneath the sign, causing it to fly-off.
So our solution to eliminating the eventual dog-ear problem of a square cut magnetic sign was to implement a rounded corner. We have found that rounded corner magnetic signs don't present the risk of dog-eared corners. This simple little magnetic sign practice helps to extend the life of your magnetic sign because the corners won't ever lift off the vehicle thus keeping your magnetic sign securely adhered to your vehicle.
Please keep in mind though, that even if you have rounded corners or square cut corners on your magnetic sign, that it needs to be installed properly. If you place the magnetic sign over any obstacles that impede the sign from laying flush on your vehicle you still run the risk of a fly-off because air was allowed to get underneath the magnetic sign.
