Are magnetic signs car safe?
Please take your magnetic signs off before entering a car wash!
Magnetic signs are one of the best non-permanent ways to utilize mobile advertising tactics to get your business, services or message to the masses that travel our roadways every day. And while magnetic signs are meant to stay securely on your vehicle during transit, and are durable enough to whether the weather, we do not recommend that you put them through the rigors of your local car wash.
Car washes have lots of equipment, machinery and products that can cause irreparable damage to your magnetic signs. For instance, the big brushes, could possibly scratch the surface of your magnetic signs or knock them off altogether. There is also the factor of the cleaning agents that are deposited onto your vehicle to wash the surface. They could adversely interact with your magnetic sign causing damage to the print or the lamination on your magnetic sign. And then there are the big blowers that partially dry off your vehicle after it's bath, which just might blast your magnetic sign right off the vehicle, as they produce wind gusts that surpass normal wind conditions that your magnetic sign experiences while traveling on your vehicle.
If you are a frequent car wash user, it is best to remove your magnetic car signs prior to washing the vehicle. Place the magnetic signs "flat" in the trunk of your vehicle or on a car, truck or van seat while your car is enjoying it's beautification process. And since you are taking the time to clean your vehicle, why not take a moment and also clean your magnetic car signs? You can wipe down the back and front of the magnetic signs with a soft cloth and remove any dust or debris that has accumulated. If there is a bit of dirt, on the printed side of the magnetic sign, wipe it down with a bit of soap and water.
Cleaning your magnetic signs will keep them in tip-top condition and assure that your mobile advertising efforts stay intact on your vehicle during transit. Also remember that dirty magnetic signs can give way to possible fly-offs. For magnetic signs to perform their best, they need to lay flat on the vehicle surface. Dust and debris build-up between the vehicle surface and the magnetic sign creates a barrier between the sign and the surface, which weakens the magnetic pull of the sign.
